Binary Settings
Permute uses several external tools and they are bundled with the app - at least so are the default versions. Mainly with FFmpeg, the bundled version needs to be LGPL compliant, which means that it does not contain some encoders by default. We offer a free GPL build available on our website that you can download and install. Or you can use your own build provided by e.g. homebrew.
When you download the GPL-compliant FFmpeg binary offered on our website, it comes as a DMG file notarized by Apple with an installer that installs the binary. Doing so and relaunching Permute is usually enough. In case you feel that Permute is not using this binary, check the Binaries section of Settings and select “FFmpeg for Permute (GPL)” from the menu under FFmpeg.
